Miami Captive Insurance Conference
A large Bermuda delegation is expected to attend the 21st annual World Captive Forum conference in Miami at the end of this month.
Being held at the city’s Doral Gold Resort & Spa from January 30 through February, the meeting will offer a robust schedule of workshops and educational sessions on the global captive insurance industry, including a new session on reputational risks,
The special hot topics roundtable, “Reputation: The Next Disaster,” will address questions and concerns about how to manage headline-grabbing exposures and respond to calls for greater transparency.
The World Captive Forum, which is co-sponsored by “Business Insurance” magazine, also will provide thought leadership from keynote speakers Joseph J. Plumeri, chairman and CEO of Willis Group Holdings plc, and Clyde Wardle, senior emerging markets currency strategist for HSBC Holdings plc.
At the conference, Archer Daniels Midland Co. will be recognised with the Award of Excellence.
Michael Lusk, vp of insurance and risk management at Decatur, Illinois-based ADM, will accept the award on behalf of the company.
Mr. Lusk was named to the “Business Insurance” Risk Management Honor Roll in 2011.
The award recognises the parent of a single-owner captive and its representatives for thought leadership in the global use of a captive insurance company; contributions to the enterprise’s strategy, objectives and businesses in the field; and contributions to the risk and insurance profession with regard to captive insurance.
Previous recipients of the Award of Excellence at the WCF include Marias Falls Insurance Co. Ltd., formed in 1984 in Bermuda by DHL Worldwide Express, which Bonn, Germany-based Deutsche Post A.G. later acquired.
New for this year’s conference, risk managers and benefit managers are eligible for free registration. To register, or for additional information about the 2012 World Captive Forum
