Premier To Host Three Town Halls
Over the course of this month, the Premier and Minister of Finance Paula Cox will host three Town Hall sessions to discuss the 2012/13 National Budget.
The next meeting is Tuesday, March 6, at the Clearwater Middle School at 7.30pm. The Premier will be joined by Minister of National Security Wayne Perinchief, Minister of Business Development & Tourism Wayne Furbert, and Minister of Public Works Michael Weeks at next Tuesday’s meeting.
Additional meetings will be held on March 15, at the Port Royal Primary School in Southampton and on March 27, at the Victor Scott Primary School. All meetings get underway at 7.30pm. The first in the series of post-budget meetings was held at the Berkeley Institute Auditorium on Tuesday [Feb.28].
“The Premier is encouraging residents to attend this Tuesday’s meeting, as it will be an opportunity for members of the community to come and hear firsthand from the Premier and Cabinet Ministers about what Budget 2012/13 entails and what it means for them,” said a Finance Ministry spokesperson.

Damn things aren’t looking good for the PLP, we had better set up some brainwashing spin sessions? Whatever is said will be spin. Their words have never ever be justified in their actions. Accountability = zero still, where are the freakin hotels, surely with some of this billion + dollars we could have built a few ourselves and had hotelliers rent and manage them in a joint partnership. This PLP are clueless. Don’t believe the hype .
We need as many of these as possible to bs us through the massive loss of revenue
For all posters, the Town Hall meetings represent a chance for you to come and ask the tough questions directly. It is one thing to post criticisms anonymously but quite another to bring your facts and opinions to an open forum for discussion.
Please make the time to attend at least one meeting.
These bloggers speak of accountability and yet will not directly ask a question.
The bloggers here will not have the constitution of character, belief or assertions to ask the perpetrators of said decisions directly. Very weak.
Williams , when was the last time you attendend a town house meeting ? let me telll you the questions you ask of the premier or any of her cohorts that are at these meetings what they tell you is “they will look into your question” or beat around the bush,the premier never answers a direct question !!!! so do not say we bloggers do not have the constitution of character,belief or assertions to ak these (your word PERPETRATORS) direct questions let us know how the town house meeting went B. wIilliams.
I’d rather go to the dentist and have a filling without anaesthetic. Any tough question would be ignored or answered by a bewildering plethora of hyperbole and spin. The reports after the last one said it all – after the introduction were a series of prepared questions. The Budget is out there, what more is to be said? Will she change something because of what someone says? These meetings are nothing short of electioneering without giving the Opposition parties, or Independents, the right of reply.

There appears to be several excuses in response to my invitation. I have been to several Town Hall meetings and in some instances the questions are definitely uncomfortable but I have never seen the Premier in particular avoid the tough questions. What is also interesting is that if you do not believe she has answered the question, you have the right to ask a follow up question.
I note one post that refers to the ‘report about the meeting’. Take the tiem to go to the meeting to get a first hand account. An interesting example of making a difference is the new relief for seniors when licensing their cars. The govt has indicated that all cars in the highest 3 categories will attract license fees. It now appears that based on feedback from the general public, the govt might modify their inintial plan.
As I am sure you all know, politics is about people. If you want to make a schange, come on out and add your voice to the conversation. As long as you are not disresectful, I am sure you wil be given an appropriate opportunity to speak. At the extreme, you should be able to write your question to allow the moderator to ask on your behalf.

I’ve concluded that Wayne Furbert is a UBP/OBA plant, a Fifth Columnist sent in to disrupt and destroy the PLP. Think I’ll raise the subject at the meeting, makes for a lot more interesting discussion than Paula’s Ponzi Scheme…er Investment (sic).
This is a great opportunity and chance for Cancer, Hmmmm, Shaking the Head and others to stop hiding behind their safe world in Cyber-space lynching at the government. Come out in the open and ask the hard questions, and find out the real facts. No need to be a Coward, take your hoods off, the opportunity is open for you now. Great opportunity to get all your questions, and concerns answered as well as provide effective solutions.
The Premier should take half the effort going into the three town halls and debate the Shadow Minister on live TV instead. Hard talk, unscripted, one to one, time limits, etc. If she really feels that the financial position of our country is defensible, then take up the challenge where a much broader section of the voting public will tune in.
I have noticed that our Premier has been on talk shows that she knows the hosts will not ask the tough questions,but I wonder if she will go on the Shirley Dill show? in my opinion Shirley is not afraid of any politician…and will ask the tough questions,,and that what talk shows are all about.

Oh really – take time to carefully listen to the questions she asks and the extent that she challenges the amswers. Walton Brown has my money for the best talk show. He is always well researched and challenges the assumptions of his guests and callers.
The Silver Fox also gets high marks for his level of preparation. I often wonder where he gets his facts from in such a timely manner.
On reflection, all of the talk show hosts are fairly well researched. The challenge is the degree to which they let the callers go overboard and make unsubstantiated claims without being challenged.

If I go it will only to be check out the reports that these are nothing more than PLP cheer-leading sessions with NO hard questions ever being answered, just more spin, smoke and mirrors, and BS. And no, I’m not into the big black power fisting that starts off these ‘rallies’ – you know where you can put that fist.

Be a leader – do your research and prepare your own questions. If you feel thye have not been answered, then say so and ask a follow up question. there is a difference in not getting and answer and not getting the answer you want or like.
