Tropical Depression Beryl Is A “Potential Threat”

Tropical Depression Beryl is a “potential threat to Bermuda” according to the Bermuda Weather Service, who also said that Beryl is presently 922 nautical miles west of Bermuda.

The system’s closest point of approach to Bermuda within 72 hrs is forecast to be 361 nautical miles to the north north west at 7pm this Thursday [May 31].

Bermuda Weather Service forecaster Fred Byrley said, “Tropical Depression Beryl is expected to linger over the southeastern U.S. today, then move offshore and redevelop into a Tropical Storm Wednesday evening. Beryl is a potential threat to Bermuda as it passes to our north Thursday night.”

The 2012 Atlantic hurricane season officially starts on June 1st and runs until November 30th.
