Squash: Micah Franklin Makes It To Semi-Finals
Bermuda’s Micah Franklin made it through to the semi-finals with a convincing win over Gavin Cumberbatch in the quarter finals of the Senior Caribbean Squash Championships being held in Trinidad & Tobago.
Franklin had a hot racquet taking the ball short and straight at every opportunity, and took the match in straight sets 11-2, 11-4, 11-3.
Coach Andrew Mount said: “He was confident in his attacking shots. Gavin is a great player. In fact, he’s a former Caribbean Champion. Micah got on the ball early and controlled the match. It was impressive.” Franklin takes on Cameron Stafford of Cayman Islands in the semi-finals.
“Stafford is a full-time touring professional currently ranked 196 in the world. Stafford took out Caribbean Legend Richard Chin of Guyana in the other quarter-final on the bottom half of the draw.
Franklin currently holds a world ranking of 240 in the world and is training full time based out of the National Squash Academy in Canada, under Jonathan Power and Jamie Nicholls.
