Videos: 2012 Veterans In Action Reggae Concert

November 12, 2012

Old school reggae lovers made their way to the BAA Gym last night [Nov 11] for the ‘Veterans In Action’ reggae concert which featured Jamaican reggae artists Admiral Bailey and Pinchers, as well as a host of local artists.

It was evening of musical reminiscing, with reggae hits from the late 1980s and early 1990s pounding through the speakers. The doors opened at 9pm, and the night started off with local DJs BlackStar, OGS, Jugglin Jason and Nuclear Weapon entering the crowd with old school reggae tunes.

Local artists including Junior C and Shorta Ranks performed before the two overseas entertainers took the stage just after midnight. Pinchers — best known for his hit “Bandelero” — performed an energetic set consisting of many of his best known songs.

Admiral Bailey entertained the crowd with some of his well known hits including “Big Belly Mon” and “One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer”. The Kingston-born artist amused the crowd by whipping up his shirt and rubbing his protruding stomach while performing “Big Belly Mon.”

The packed house saw an incident free night with almost 1000 people enjoying themselves till past 2am. Admiral Bailey appeared to be the crowd favorite, while strong support was also shown for the Bermudian artists with the crowd singing along, clapping and showing their appreciation for our local talent.

The promoter extended his thanks to everyone for making the night possible, and said thanks to the support of the sponsors and the reggae community, people should look out for the next segment of Veterans In Action in early 2013.
