David Bascome’s Jersey To Be Retired Today
The Pennsylvania-based Harrisburg Heat will retire the jersey of Bermudian David Bascome at halftime of today’s [Dec 29] game against the Ohio Vortex.
Mr Bascome, the all-time leading scorer in Heat history, played in Harrisburg for 11 of its 12 seasons. He is only 1 of 14 players in league history to pass the 1000 point plateau.
He is Harrisburg’s all-time leader in nearly every category [points, games played, total goals, blocks and game-winning goals]. His 17 year playing career finished in Baltimore, where he remains as Assistant Coach, winning 3 championships.
The five-time All-Star was the league MVP runner up in 2001.
Congratulations! This is a great achievement. I wish you further success in the future.
Congratulations David!!!! So proud of you. It shows hard work and dedication does pay off.
a true role model
Congrats.. BIG UP….after all the sleepness nights in college hearing you control that ball in your bed in our dorm room….it better pay off!
Lol – you know I could only chuckle when memories are brought up about those college days. It’s amazing how time flys, runksie I appreciate the support and encouragement in those days.
I am so proud of you, I love you
Thank you family. It has been a long journey.
so good to see another guy from my childhood break out and use his talent to achieve…some of us use football to get college and Uni scholarships while David Goater, Lightborn. and now young Wells were exceptional. Its a shame that the majority of us don’t realize our talents can take us further than the local game can ever offer
Thanks for the support. It will be up to us to help delivery messages of what one can achieve with their talent, but we would have to be careful as things have changed a lot. Young people with talent have many options and need to be guided in the right direction. There was a huge missing component that was avoided in my journey which can not be avoided today and that is education, it’s important that when we are encouraging people to further their talents we must make them understand the importance of balancing their talents with education. there are only 1percent or less of people that make it in the professional careers and having a strong fall back is important, especially in this time when we are preparing our young people for 21st century business and social development.
Congratulations! That is a huge honour and well deserved!
Wow that’s an awesome achievement! Makes me want to work harder.
Congratulations David, your story is an amazing one. We all have choices in life and we all have talents. I can’t do you and you can’t do me, we all need to be the best ‘ me’ that we can.
David you are a true testament that hard work does pay. There is no such thing as LUCK, it’s PREPARATION that does it!!
Well done…
I want to thank everyone for their comments and support, it is greatly appreciate. I have traveled a long road to get to this point and have learned that every thing you leave behind becomes a lasting memory. The jersey night went great and with all the players and fans showing their support that night it would never be forgotten. Harrisburg Heat came apart of my life at an important time and I thank them for what they had done for me, the biggest achievement beside winning championships along my journey was being able to have a voice as a professional athlete and spread a message of HOPE.
I thank you all once again and i am proud to be a bermuda onion. David Bascome
