Police: Counterfeit $10 & $50 Bills Circulating
The Bermuda Police Service is conducting inquiries into reported incidents of counterfeit Bermuda as well as U.S. $10 and $50 bills being tendered at local businesses recently.
“These counterfeit notes are of poor quality,” said a police statement. “Liquor licensed premises and other businesses involved in the nighttime economy are encouraged to be especially vigilant for any individual(s) attempting to pass counterfeit currency.

“If counterfeit cash is detected during a transaction, staff receiving the fake money should hold on to it, note the description of the individual who tendered it and contact police immediately.
“The public is reminded that it is a criminal offence to pass to another, possess, make or reproduce any counterfeit currency; punishable by up to five years in prison.
“Any suspicious circumstances regarding counterfeit currency should be reported directly to the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 247-1744 or via the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.”
It would be very helpful to have comparison photos provided so that we know what we are looking out for… or a hint at what, specifically, is the tell-tale sign of a counterfeit note.
I agree with you 100%. Other that the $100 bill in the picture looking very bright and the $50 bill looking dark in this photo, I can’t tell that they are fake by this picture. It could just be the lighting making them look bright/dark.
@Bernews, can you try and get a comparison photo for us?
