Fray Awarded ICC Global Development Award
The Ministry of Community and Cultural Development and the Bermuda Cricket Board [BCB] have announced that Gary Fray was recently awarded an ICC Global Development Programme Award for his lifetime of service to cricket in Bermuda.
Mr. Fray has devoted much of his life to sports administration and was instrumental in the integration between Bermuda’s two segregated cricket governing bodies.
Since the 1990′s, Mr. Fray has directly served on the Bermuda Cricket Board as Treasurer, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President and as Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee where he still continues to serve.
Minister of Community and Cultural Development Wayne Scott said: “I am very excited and heartened by this most deserving award for Gary. To win a global award means that you are viewed as the best in the world in your respective discipline and Gary truly represents what is great about cricket, sport and community contribution.
“I know that Gary is a very humble person and has always carried out his work in a completely selfless manner, a quality that has obviously contributed to his success.
“In a historic year that features Bermuda hosting a global ICC senior cricket event, it is very fitting that we can applaud and appreciate one of our own that built the foundation for these type of events to happen.”
BCB President, Lloyd Fray, congratulated Gary on winning this award saying, “Gary is a strong believer in the ‘spirit of cricket’ and the importance of life lessons that can be learned through the sport, he is a great leader who continues to donate much of his life for the love of cricket and is truly deserving of this award.”
He continued: “I would like to thank the ICC for their continued recognition of the high quality programmes that the BCB offer and thank the many Board members, volunteers and staff who dedicate much of their time ensuring the success of all our programs.”
