Track Athletes Reach CARIFTA Standard
The Bermuda National Athletics Association hosted a track meet this weekend which represents the last opportunity for our local track and field athletes to qualify for CARIFTA 2013.
The weather did not provide the best of conditions for athletes with the wind and rain but that didn’t stop two participants from running the boy’s 100m dash in under 10 secs.
Tre Houston was clocked across the line in a winning time of 9.65, while Jeneko Place smashed the Under 20 Carifta A Standard Time of 10.70 when he finished second clocking 9.91. In the same race, Kidane Callendar also reached the A Standard Time when he finished in a time of 10.28.
The Under 17 Boy’s 100 Meter Dash saw Kion Somner reach the 11.20 Carifta A Standard Time recording a time of 10.65 as did Tahje Taylor with a time of 10.79. Michaiah Robinson reached the Under 17 Boy’s 400 Meter Dash Carifta B Standard Time when he crossed the line in a time of 51.90.
The Carifta A Standard was reached during the Under 17 Boys Long Jump after Ethan Phillips leaped 6.42m, while Justin Donawa only needed one leap off a short run-up to meet the Carifta Under 20 Boys Triple Jump A Standard, Donawa leaped 14.35.
During the Under 20 Boys High Jump Chas Smith reached the Carifta B Standard leaping 1.90m and Juma Mouchette reached the A Standard for the Under 20 Boys 5000 Meter Run after he clocked a time of 16:22.42.

those 2 times are so bogus how could a guy running 9.91 in a 100m run 22.5 in a 200m?? that maths off badly
B.S. times. I bet the blocks were located at the wrong line!
