Traffic Lights Installed After Rock Collapse
The Ministry of Public Works said they would like to advise the motoring public that it recognizes the inconvenience caused by the road closure on Palmetto Road, and they are pursuing a remedy to ensure that the rock cut is stabilized and the road returned to normal use as soon as possible.
A spokesperson said, “The Ministry introduced the traffic restrictions on the west bound lane of Palmetto Road west of Bishops Spencer Road to ensure the safety of the motoring public. It is anticipated that this lane closure will be in effect for a significant period of time until such time as the rock cut that collapsed on the property on Perimeter Lane is stabilized.
“The Ministry requests the public’s continued patience while this matter is being addressed and encourages all motorists to use alternate routes, for example, Northshore Road via Blackwatch Pass or Frog Lane/Parsons Road or wherever possible to limit congestion in the area.
“Traffic lights have been installed to manage the traffic flow from east of Palmetto Road at the junction of Northshore Road and Palmetto Road near the Barker’s Hill roundabout and at the west bound lane of Palmetto Road west of Bishops Spencer Road.
“The Ministry apologizes for any inconvenience to the motoring public caused by this traffic diversion and requests that traffic signs in this area are observed.”
