Jessica Lewis Competes In Arizona, Switzerland
Bermuda’s Jessica Lewis recently competed in both Arizona and Switzerland, contesting the 100m, 400m and 200m.
Competing in the Swiss National Para-Athletics Championships in Pratteln, Switzerland, Lewis had a great start in her 400 meter race and was leading at the 100m mark, but started to lose some ground after 150m and ended finishing 3rd in her heat and 10th overall out of the fourteen T53 athletes that competed.
Lewis was lucky to get her 100m races finished before the rain, where she had another good start and finished 6th overall out of 11 athletes.
Prior to the Swiss competition, Lewis had competed in the Desert Challenge in Arizona, where the athletes faced temperatures close to 100F.
Lewis competed in the 200m were she clocked a 35.55 in a mixed class race with 8 competitors all together – 4 T53 and 4 T54 women. Lewis finished 2nd in her T53 class behind Shirley Riley, an athlete from the USA who competes in distances ranging from 100m to Marathons!
The 100m races were next, with Lewis crossing the line in 19.81, followed by the 400m races with Lewis’ time being 1.08.40.
Still holding high records. Well done Jessica
