Photo Set #2: Highland Games At Saltus Field
Saturday June 15th saw the Caledonian Society of Bermuda putting on the second annual Highland Games at the Saltus School field in Pembroke. After heavy rains drenched the Island early in the day, the skies cleared in the afternoon.
Hundreds gathered around the grounds in the early afternoon, with more people arriving as the day progressed. The event finished with the Grande Finale, where all the bands came together in one final march led by the Bermuda Regiment Band.

The afternoon also saw Tug-O-War competitions with teams from Government House including Governor George Fergusson, The Bermuda Regiment, Bermuda Fire Service, as well as ladies from Nova Scotia and the RCMP Band members.
A traditional Caber Toss even was also held where a small group of men assist the thrower in balancing what may as well be a telephone pole, who then tries to launch it end over end as far as possible. The Deputy Governor had a spectacular first throw to kick things off.
Many of the male attendees were sporting their favorite kilts, showing family colors as well as their heritage, as children and adults alike enjoyed the festivities.
