Police Advisory On Residential Burglaries
The police issued an advisory saying they have noticed an increase in residential burglaries, which contributed to the summer season and the need to have ventilation in homes
A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service has noticed a recent increase in residential Burglaries. We have come to realize that this could be contributed to the summer season and the need to have ventilation in homes. Thieves are generally opportunists looking for an easy target.
“The Bermuda Police Service would like to inform the public of common mistakes made by victims and encourage them to secure their property. Some of these mistakes include: leaving windows and doors open for ventilation with just the screens closed, no proper lighting around the house after dusk, not cancelling mail delivery when leaving the Island on vacation. The Bermuda Police Service police Service urge members of the public to keep their home safe and secure.”
Well, perhaps they are attributable to the summer season…doubt the burglaries contribute a thing to the season…
It would be helpful if the police would post information in their daily reports to know where burglaries are taking place? Surely if we knew where they were happening we could be more watchful, take greater precautions, and report suspicious activity. They used to post this to the daily reports, but it never seems to be there anymore.
I’ve been saying the same thing for years. The last time I mentioned it on here some twit lambasted my intelligence level if you can believe that.
If there are areas of increased activity , or ‘hot spots’ , then simply saying that there’s been an increase in activity or reporting that a residence on Middle Road Devonshire was burglarised is of little assistance to anyone who may be able to assist or live in the reported area.
It’s about as useful as the media reporting that there was a car crash in Russia yesterday.
I saw a sign recently in a US neighborhood, THE GLOCK BLOCK.
I don’t think they have many robberies in that area.
