CONCACAF U/15 Football Tournament Day #5
CONCACAF U15 Championships is underway in the Cayman Islands. On Saturday [Aug 17] Guadalupe defeated St. Martin and Honduras defeated St. Kitts and Nevis in the match of Group C and in the matches of Group D Haiti won the match against Antigua & Barbuda.
In the first game of the day in Group C Guadalupe defeated St. Martin 2-1. Loic Anotnides who was named the Man of the Match scored early in the first half. In the second half Federic Reymond equalized the score. Geordy Choisi scored the victory goal for Guadalupe eight minutes before the end of the game. With this victory Guadalupe leads Group C.
Honduras earned their second victory of the tournament by defeating St. Kitts and Nevis 6-0. In the first 5 minutes of the game, Man of the Match Darixon Vuelto and Jorge Alvarez scored. Going forward Honduras was able to control the match and score four more goals.
Darixon Vuelto scored his second goal of the night in the 37th minute, while Jeancarlo Vargas netted in the 53rd, 61st, and 69th minute. Honduras will face Guadalupe next Monday, in a game which may decide who wins the group.
Haiti defeated Antigua & Barbuda 5-1 in Group D action. Scoring for the winners were Angelo Thelusme in the 18th minute, Peguy Joseph in the 19th Johnson Jeudy in the 53rd and 56th minute while Thermidor Fils-Aime scored in the 58th. Javorn Stevens scored the consolation goal in the 65th minute. Juedy was named Man of the Match.
El Salvador and Martinque played to a stalemate, in what was the first tie of the tournament. Kevin Martinez scored for El Salvador in the 30th minute. Martinique tied the game in the second half via Hedson Nattes. Kevin Martinez of El Salvador was named Man of the Match. With this result El Salvador leads a disputed Group that will resume action tomorrow.
In the third game of group D Puerto Rico ran past St. Vincent & Grenadines 6-0. John Henriquez scored a hat-trick, Ryan Lopez scored a double, and Juan Camareno scored a single goal. The Man of the Match was Ryan Lopez.
In Group A, the day kicks off at Truman Bodden stadium with a top-of-the-table clash between Aruba and Bermuda. Both teams enter the match with three wins from three matches, hoping to pull clear and secure the inside track to the top spot in the group and a ticket to the semifinals.
Host Cayman Islands can also stay in the fight for that semifinal spot with a win over Bahamas, in a match to be disputed at Truman Bodden at 7:30 PM. In the other Group A game, US Virgin Islands and St. Maarten face each other, with both looking for their first points of the tournament.
The evening Group B fixture may also prove decisive in terms of a semifinal spot, when dual leaders Guatemala and Belize – both undefeated – face off at Annex. In the same group, Haiti looks to stay alive when it comes up against St. Vincent, and Grenada takes on St. Lucia.
