Southampton Rangers won the Western County Cup after defeating Warwick Workmens on Saturday [Aug 25]. Warwick Workmen’s batted first and scored 91, in reply Southampton Rangers scored 92 for the loss of 6 wickets.
In the Final Round Western County Cup match at the White Hill Field challengers Warwick Workmen’s Club were bowled all out for 91 by Cup Holders Southampton Rangers.
player/coach Lionel Cann was the top scorer with 26, while Guest player Jordan DeSilva added 25. Alex Dore was the pick of the Southampton Rangers bowlers with figures of the Southampton Rangers bowlers 10-5-20-5, while Ryan Belboda bowled 10-3-16-2 and Derrick Brangman had figures of 10-5-9-1.
In reply Southampton Rangers did not have things their own way, as they were 5-46, but a 36 run partnership between captain Dion Stovell and Ian Armstrong got the champions close to their target before closing the game out with Christian Gibbons joining Armstrong after Stovell fell. Armstrong was the top scorer with 21, Stovell added 18 and Dore scored 11. DeSilva was the pick of the Warwick Workman’s Club bowlers with figures of 10-4-12-3, while Kani Darrell bowled 8.0-1-34-2.
