Schedule Of Events Celebrating Labour Day
In celebration of the 32nd Anniversary of Labour Day, the Joint Labour Day Organizing Committee have released a schedule of events to be held following the theme of “A Willingness To Lead”.
The weekend leads off tonight [Aug 30] with the Annual Labour Day Banquet being held at the Fairmont Southampton. Cocktails will be served from 6.45pm with dinner at 8.00pm and will feature guest speaker, Reverend Nicholas Tweed of St. Paul’s A.M.E Church.
Celebrations continue on Sunday [Sept 1] with the Labour Day Worship Service held at St. Paul’s A.M.E Church starting at 11.00am followed by the Pre Labour Day Picnic at Shelly Bay Beach from 2.00pm – 7.00pm.
Labour Day activities on Monday [Sep 2] start with the Swan’s Running Club Annual Children’s Race and Walk at 8.00am followed by the Swan’s Annual Road Race at 8.30am. A prize presentation will take place after the race at 10.00am.
Labour Day greetings are scheduled at 11.00am and will include remarks from Trade Unionists, Government leaders and Opposition leaders. Senior citizens are invited to join in on a train ride just prior to the start of the Labour Day March leaving from Union Square at 11.30am.
