Swimming Association Confirms New Records
The Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association has announced the updated Long Course Meter Records following the Canadian Age Group Championships in Montreal and the 15th FINA World Championships in Barcelona.
There were a total of 10 Age Group Records set in Montreal and 1 Bermuda Open record was set in Barcelona.
During the 11 and 12 Girls 50m Butterfly, Emma Harvey clocked a time of 30.75, breaking her own record of 0:31.09 set on June 23rd, 2013, Harvey then set a new 100m Backstroke Record time of 1:13.28, breaking her own record of 1:13.57 set on June 21st, 2013. Harvey’s time of 1:12.95 in the Final of the 100m Backstroke, eclipsed her time she set earlier in the day.
Madelyn Moore broke her own record of 27.91 set on June 21st, 2013 in the 13 and 14 Girls 50m Freestyle when she touched the wall in a time of 27.68.
Jesse Washington broke five of his own 13 and 14 Boys Records while in Montreal, he set a new 50m Freestyle Record clocking 25.20, breaking his own record of 25.21 set on April 2nd, 2013.
He then set a new 200m Freestyle record with a time of 2:00.36, breaking his own record of 2:02.83 set on March 31st, 2013. Washington competing in the Final of the 200m Freestyle, broke his own record of 2:00.36 set earlier in the day when he touched the wall in a time of 1:59.23.
During the 400m Freestyle, Washington clocked a time of 4:24.31, breaking his own record of 4:28.24 set on July 4th, 2013 in the 400m Freestyle Final Washington lowered that time clocking 4:23.38.
As we reported last week Wednesday July 31st, Roy Allan Burch set a new Bermuda Open 100m Freestyle record of 50.66, breaking his own record of 51.01 set on July 27th, 2011.
