Results: Dudley Eve Season Opening Games
The 2013/14 Dudley Eve Season got underway on Monday [Sept 2] at the Bernard Park. In the Group A match Dandy Town Hornets recorded a 2-1 win against Devonshire Cougars while in the Group B match, PHC Zebras scored 5 goals against Southampton Rangers in the 5-0 shut out.
Group A: Devonshire Cougars 1 Dandy Town Hornets 2
The Dandy Town Hornets staged a comeback to defeat the Devonshire Cougars 2 – 1 at the Bernard Park. Domico Coddington scored for the Devonshire Cougars in the 25th minute when he robbed a Dandy Town defender before beating Treadwell Gibbons in goal to make the score 1 – 0.
Both Gibbons in goal for the Dandy Town Hornets and Devonshire Cougars goalkeeper Kioshi Trott made significant saves in the first half to keep the score line at 1 – 0 until the break.
The Dandy Town Hornets had a chance to draw level however Damon Ming missed the chance when he blasted his penalty kick wide. Ming did make up for his miss when he scored in the 72nd minute to draw the Dandy Town Hornets level. It was in the 86th minute when Dandy Town Hornets captain Brandon Minors scored to give them the lead that they would hold until the final whistle.
Group B: Southampton Rangers 0 PHC Zebras 5
This Group B Match got the 2013/14 Dudley Eve Season underway and Kevin Lambe gave the PHC Zebras a dream start when he hit a 25 yard volley in the first minute leaving Southampton Rangers goalkeeper Jason Smith stranded.
Cecoy Robinson doubled the lead three minutes later as the PHC Zebras looked to stamp their authority on the game early. Robinson made it 3 – 0 when he was sent through on a one on one with Smith before calmly slotting the ball away.
The second half saw Southampton Rangers attempt to get back into the game and had a chance when they were awarded a penalty, but Veron Perinchief blasted his spot kick over the crossbar. PHC Zebras second half substitute Jahni Raynor made it 4 – 0 in the 75th minute when he beat the offside trap and slipped the ball past an advancing Smith.
Ten minutes later Marquel Waldron had a shot from the edge of the box go through a maze of players before ending up in the back of the net to make the final score PHC Zebras 5 Southampton Rangers 0.
