Results & Photo Set #2: Sand Sculpture Contest

Yesterday [Aug 31] saw the 18th Bermuda Department of Tourism’s Bermuda Sand Sculpture Competition at Horseshoe Bay Beach with over twenty sculptures being built.

After the teams spent a better part of the day building their architectural designs, a group of three judges wondered amongst the artistic creations to decide on the winners of this year’s event.

Below are photos of the completed sculptures:

In the children’s category first place went to team Attack On Sand with “Lady of the Sea” and second place was awarded to team Coconuts with “Sponge Bob”.

In the teen category “Dinghy 14/15″ was awarded first place while team Clueless with “Ride the Wave – John Lennon” took second place.

Team Hot Stuff was awarded first place in the open category with their “Cake” entry while Bermuda College won second with “Polaroid Sculpture” and team More took third with “More”.

The family category saw team Harvey take first place with “Whistling Frog”, team Funny Bunny won second place with “Whale of a Time” and Chris’s Crew was awarded third with “Sea Venture”.

Team Honeymooners were awarded first place in the tourist category with their “Squidward/Patrick” entry while team Turtle was awarded second place with “I Love Bermuda”.

The overall winner of the Sand Sculpture Competition was team Plan B with their “BIOS” entry featuring a lionfish and a diver.
