Special Service To Mark Berkeley’s 134 Years
To mark the 134th anniversary of the first meeting of The Berkeley Educational Society — which was on 6th October 1879 — the Berkeley Family will join St. Paul AME Church in worship on Sunday, 6th October at the 10.55am service.
Members of The Berkeley Educational Society will be in attendance and the Berkeley Institute School Choir will minister in song. Capping off its weekend of 50th anniversary celebrations, the distinguished “Class of 63” will also be in attendance. Members include Mrs. Conchita Ming, Mr. Robert K. Horton, Mrs. Muriel Roach and Gerald Simons.
Pastor of St. Paul, Rev. Nicholas Tweed said: “There is a strong historical connection between St. Paul church and The Berkeley. Many of our members not only number among the alumni but have also gone on to serve the cause of education for all in Bermuda. This is a unique opportunity to inspire our young people to service through the witness of those who had the vision to pursue the goal of education for all people.”
