Man Charged With Impersonating Police Officer
A 35 year old man appeared in Magistrates Court this morning [Jan 21] where he was charged with sending offensive messages and impersonating a police officer, with the Court hearing he allegedly told the police he was “working deep undercover.”
Lorin Baxter pleaded not guilty to sending offensive messages by telephone, which allegedly happened on 7th January 2014.
The allegation that Baxter had left a threatening message on voicemail saying “Ya got one b***h inside there. The yellow skinned girl that thinks because guys smoke weed and drink rum and ain’t f**** up nothing she has f***** up my whole life too. I would send people round there for f***** her a** see.”
Baxter next pleaded not guilty to making a statement that falsely suggested that he was a police officer, having allegedly been involved in a fracas with Police in a Front Street establishment earlier this month.
It was alleged that he told intervening Police officers that he, Baxter, was a police officer whose number was 8446 and that he was working deep undercover, having been taken on in this capacity in 1990.
Senior Magistrate Archie Warner set trial on the first two matters for April and the third for May, and granted him bail of $1,000 on each charge.
