Bermuda Runners Finish Boston Marathon
Only one year after the fatal bomb attack that killed three and injured more than 260 others, the 2014 iteration of the Boston Marathon got underway yesterday, with a moment of silence held before the run began.
With 32,530 participants, this field marked one of the largest in the marathon’s history, highlighting the resilience and bravery that has been a running theme of the Boston Strong campaign since the bombings that shocked the city during last year’s event.
In order to help ensure safety for this year’s runners and volunteers, officials mounted a huge security operation that included a ban on rucksacks and screening at checkpoints around the city.
