65-Year-Old Man Faces Additional Sex Charges

April 11, 2014

Only 24 hours after he faced a set of charges alleging he sexually exploited a young girl, a 65-year-old man re-appeared in Magistrates Court this morning [Apr 11] facing additional charges related to a separate girl.

The four new charges also alleged sexual exploitation of a young person, however this time related to different girl, with the Court hearing the alleged offences took place in 2007. He pleaded not guilty to all four new charges, which follows his not guilty plea yesterday.

Senior Magistrates Archie Warner left him on the $10,000 bail from yesterday and the Prosecutor said that this new matter would be joined with yesterday’s matter.  The man cannot legally be named at this stage of the proceedings.

WTF!! The man cannot be legally name at that moment.. His man should be on blast so everyone can know, there are predators that’s been charged that we don’t know about walking around because their names are not known to the public.

  2. Navin Johnson says:

This is a perfect example of why laws need to be changed to name people…..parents need to know that good old Uncle whoever is a predator

    • Betty Trump NOTREAL says:

You can’t name and shame until he has been proven guilty. People are accused of false crimes all the time… While its very likely these crimes occurred, do not jump to the gun, he is in custody for now.

      • Truth is killin' me... says:

He’s not in custody fool…this animal is on 10,000 bail!

      • Next says:

Who have you known that has been accused of sexually assaulting two separate young girls and was innocent? Little children do not lie like that, especially not two different children accusing the same man. No one else gets the privilege of being innocent until proven guilty! No they get their name blasted all over the news!

      • hahahaha says:

Well in that case no one should be named until proven guilty. ie: Murder cases, theft etc.

    • Ride says:

Let’s wait and see if he is found guilty before we start the naming.

That being said: What is the hold-up for the sex offender’s register? The current administration is quick to move new legislation for other issues to the table. Let’s get the amendments and additions sorted so we can have the information we need to project ourselves and loved ones (all genders and ages).

      • Let's be real... says:

The likelihood that this man has offended and been convicted in the past is unlikely, therefore his name would not be on this register that you are calling for. A number of sex offenders go to court having done it for the first time. No register will help to protect a child from these people.

Parents need to be vigilant and can’t allow their children to be so familiar with people and calling everyone aunt and uncle. You can’t trust just anybody with your children.

    • Sandy Bottom says:

It’s nothing to do with him being innocent until proven guilty. It’s to protect the identity of the victims in sex charge cases.
It’s hard enough for victims in these cases to say what happened. It would be even harder if their names and photographs were all over the media.

  3. smh says:

    Are you serious!

  4. Tricks Are For Kids says:

He needs to be named and shamed……… others names have been mentioned for lesser charges PRIOR to conviction.. what makes him so different?……. sick of hearing excuses as to why his name can’t be or shouldn’t be mentioned…… I bet if this situation was sitting on YOUR doorstep you would be singing different tune….

  5. WTF says:

I commend these two young girls for having come forward, resulting in charges being brought against a person who has allegedly abused them so terribly. I hope they have the full support of their parents and that the justice system treats them with respect as proceedings get under way. While sexual abuse is a terrible thing for a person to endure, especially at such a young and vulnerable time of their lives, the aftermath can be equally traumatizing. No matter what happens now, this alleged abuse will have sorely altered their lives in some very unpleasant ways. I hope they get lots of help in getting through all this. Wishing many blessings to them both.

  6. Mumbo Jumbo says:

This is just ….one more reason you do not expunge earlier conviction!….A registry please…in this way people can remove possability and probability……who would put their child in harms way….as it is we have no way of knowing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”"

  7. buzz says:

I am a bit Confused, are people more interested to name
and Shame or to see Justice for these young people, and Help
for this Person if he is Guilty .

  8. WOW… How many more could there be…? Those two young girls, have friends…too!!! Mercy Lord!!!

  9. Survivor says:

More importantly and priority is getting the law changed making it so that there is no statute of limitation for child sex and abuse crimes. You would really be surprised at what came out if they were no longer safe and open up historical cases.

  10. thinking says:

Personally, this is bemuda, such a small place. The space between nothing & nothing….what i’m trying to say is although i see the idea about keeping the name witheld but peoeple with find out anyways. Bermudians just LOVE to talk about peoples negativity. Blast his name to the fullest. People need to realize problems/situations like this didn’t just start when it happened. I personally feel for all victims of sexual abuse. One the real though, these people are REALLY LUCKY that the police got ahold of them, because i know some parents who would have done the unthinkable if it was their kids! #ijs
