BBBS To Hold Fundraising Wacky Walkathon
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bermuda [BBBS] will be holding its recently rescheduled Wacky Walk-a-thon fundraiser on Sunday, May 18, inviting all participants to wear something “wacky” in order to combine fun with its charitable effort.
A spokesperson said, “Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bermuda has rescheduled their Wacky Walk-a-thon fundraiser to Sunday, May 18, starting at 8.30am from Charities House on Point Finger Road. All participants can wear something wacky and join in – the crazier the better.
“Participants can wear mismatched clothes, costumes, or a crazy hat – the sky is the limit. There will be a prize given to the wackiest walker. On the pledge sheet [PDF here], participants can fill out what they will be wearing. Individuals that do not wish to dress wacky can wear a white t-shirt.”
“This fundraiser for BBBS is also an opportunity for students to gain community service hours. The Walk-a-thon will be a 5K starting at Charities House going throughout Hamilton and back. Student participants will be able to receive two hours of community service for their participation.
“There will be a warm up activity and then the walk. If they have a completed pledge sheet, an additional hour of community service will be offered as it takes time for students to go out and seek pledges. For those that do not get pledges, we are asking that they make a donation of $15 towards BBBS.
“The entire Bermuda community is invited to participate. The walk is sponsored by Dasani, Kashi, and Coca-Cola; snacks will be provided by these sponsors.
“Please contact the BBBS office on 232-2802 or via email at bbbs@logic.bm for further information.”
