Fencer Jakob Resnik Competes In Bulgaria
14 year old Jakob Resnik began competing in the Junior and Cadet World Fencing Championships in Bulgaria.
The Saltus Grammar School student is one of the youngest athletes in the competition, which is limited to fencers under the age of 20.
In the first round, Resnik suffered six defeats picking up a point.
In his first match Resnik went down 5 – 0 to Akram Bounabi from Algeria, in his next match Resnik picked up his first point of the Championships but he fell 5 – 1 to Long Wai Cheng from Hong Kong.
Resnik’s next match saw him go down 5 – 0 to Fernando Saiz from Spain, Resnik then loss 5 – 0 to Amaar Alammari from Kuwait.
Resnik next took on Adrian Dzwoniarski from Poland and went down 5 – 0 and then he closed out his round going down 5 – 0 to Roman Kuksenko from the Ukraine.
Around 80 nations are taking part in the Junior and Cadet World Fencing Championships with over 1000 fencers taking part in the competition.

Good for you Jakob for doing what you obviously enjoy and representing Bermuda. I don’t know you, but I have always been curious about fencing and have enjoyed watching it when shown on TV. Again, congratulations and looking forward to good things from you in the future.
