April 24, 2014

[Updated] This year’s Agricultural Exhibition gets underway today [Apr 24] at the Botanical Gardens, with thousands of entries in the various categories.

The theme for this year is “Growing for the Next Generation”, and the Exhibition will feature a slew of entertainment, including the overseas trampoline act “The French Connection.” This year’s schedule can be found here [PDF]

There are four points of access to the Agricultural Exhibition, with all but one being drop-off points only. The Point Finger Road entry, Peace Lutheran Gate entry, and the Berry Hill Road entry are all drop-off locations only while vehicles can enter and park for free if they use the South Shore entrance. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children under 16 years, $5 for seniors and free for children under 5 years of age.

We stopped by last night as the final preparations were taking place and spoke with two young participants, Assistant Exhibition Planner Mica Murray and Director Of Parks Lisa Dawn Johnston.

Update 10.54am: A Transport Ministry spokesperson said that “in order to service demand for the 76th Annual Agricultural Exhibition, all route 8 buses will be rerouted through South Road and Point Finger Road.

“From Thursday, April 24 to Saturday, April 26, 2014, from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm, there will be no bus service along Stowe Hill and The Lane travelling toward Hamilton and no service along Trimingham Road travelling from Hamilton.”
