YAO Cal Ripken Weekend Baseball Results

The YAO Baseball Season continued this weekend at the YAO Ball Parks at Kindley Field, with the opening match of the day in the Cal Ripken League seeing the Orioles defeat the Cubs 13-3.

Aiden McPhail, Connor Somerville, Darion Davis and Liam McCue helped lead the Orioles. They combined for five hits and eight RBIs.

The top of the first saw the Cubs take an early lead, 1-0. Jackson Spurling, Singled to start things off before Sam Resnik Doubled, scoring Spurling.

The Orioles didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring five runs in the first inning when they scored on a two-run Double by Aiden, an error, and an RBI Single by Kieron Malott.

One run in the top of the second helped the Cubs close their deficit to 5-2. A wild pitch sparked the Cubs’ rally. McCue ended the inning by getting Noah Simon to strike out.

The Orioles scored four runs of their own in the second. The Orioles scored on an RBI Single by McCue, an error, and a two-run Single by Davis.

The Phillies used a trio of pitchers including an impressive debut pitching performance by Isaac Vogelsang to hold off the Yankees 5 – 4.

Jack Martin had a multi-hit game for the Yankees and Noah Autgmezguine contributed with an inning ending web gem at short stop. For the Phillies, James Ives and Micaiah Furbert combined for 4 hits and 4 RBIs to help provided the spark for the offense
