29 Year Old Man Denies Touching Little Girl
Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [June 23], a 29 year old man denied charges alleging he sexually touched a young child.
The man — who cannot be legally named at this stage of the proceedings — pleaded not guilty to two charges alleging that he sexually touched the little girl and was touched by the child, who is under 6 years old.
The two alleged offences were said to have happened on a date unknown between May and June 2014.
Senior Magistrate Archie Warner remanded the man into custody until his trial date set for mid-October.

For the most part, you’re confusing most comments. Right now, he’s innocent until proven guilty. We get that. We don’t know the deal in THIS CASE. In general, we need a sex offender registry. He’s not the first (if convicted). It’s not about HIM, it’s about the convicted ones and the CHILDREN we need to protect!!!

Child molestation is considered one of the most vile of all crimes, hence people’s strong reactions. You are right, we don’t know what happened and we must allow justice to prevail. However, you can’t really blame people for being mad. Nobody likes to see little kids hurt in the manner, possibly messing them up for life.
I see it from both angles. I had a boyfriend who was accused of molestation, went to court and was acquitted. It wasn’t until a good twenty plus years later that the victim (who was a teenager at the time)confessed to somebody that she made the whole thing up because she wanted some attention from her mother. She could very well had sent an innocent man to prison. However, you still have to take these things seriously if a small child comes to you with it.
Having said that, a lot of our young women have to be careful who they let into their lives and homes around their children. I know somebody with an eight year old daughter, and her current boyfriend is always hugging up on the girl. I told the mother she needs to keep an eye on tha. He isn’t her father and shouldn’t be so overly affectionate. Well, she got an attitude with me and said I was paranoid but one can never be too careful. Better to be paranoid than to see your story splashed across the headlines.
As truly perverted as an act of pedophilia is, I think we all need to take into perspective the fact that the a significant number of sexual offenders have been victims of sexual assault themselves, often when they were very young children.
This fact certainly does not excuse this type of behavior, but it can give insight into why people commit these type of crimes. Often it is a power issue – you are sexually abused yourself, you feel you have lost all of your power and control, and the only way you can see to regain that control is to become an offender yourself. Of course there are other far more healthy ways to no longer feel like a victim, but without the proper support and guidance from mental health professionals this becomes much more difficult.
I hope the young child gets the help that they need so they can grow up to be a healthy, mentally well individual. I also hope that the offender (if guilty) gets the help he needs so that he will not commit this kind of act again.

Why is it that you can name a suspect in custody for a murder but not a suspect for sexual assault? Both acts bring humiliation on the suspect. I don’t think that aspect of law is fair.
