Orioles Win Cal Ripken Season Championship
The YAO Cal Ripken League baseball regular season ended with the Orioles clinching the Season Championship with a close 7-5 win over the Phillies.
The Orioles were led by Narsje Brokington, Liam McCue and Connor Somerville. The Orioles held off the surging Phillies, who were led by Finlay Turnbull and James Ives. These two teams meet again on Saturday for the right to play in the League Championship on Sunday.
The second game had the Cubs defeating the Yankees 13-6 behind both the bat and the arm of Sam Resnik. Resnik went 3-4 at the Plate for the Cubs. Resnik also shut down the Yankees while he was on the hill.
The Yankees managed just two hits off of the Cubs’ pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out six during his three innings of work.
The Cubs blew out the Yankees thanks to 16 hits, including four extra base hits. The Cubs attack included Alex Downey, Alec Bordage and Ziare Lodge. The Yankees pitching struggled for the first time this year and were held quiet at the plate.
