Royal Paintbox, The Grand Seduction To Screen
A documentary that puts the spotlight on Royal Family artwork down the generations, and a charming and heartfelt comedy, will feature at the Weekend Film Series on Sunday June 22.
In Royal Paintbox, screening at 3 p.m., HRH the Prince of Wales reveals an extraordinary treasure trove of rarely seen artworks by members of the Royal Family past and present and explores a colourful palette of intimate family memory and observation.

Shot in the spectacular landscapes of Balmoral, Birkhall, Highgrove, Windsor Castle, Frogmore and Osborne House, the documentary features artworks by members of the Royal Family down the centuries – many of whom were accomplished artists — including some of HRH the Prince of Wales’s own watercolours.
“One only has to recall the most recent Royal visit to appreciate how much interest there is in the Royal Family in Bermuda,” says Weekend Film Series programmer Duncan Hall.
“The film is a fascinating walk through the history of the Royal Family as seen through the art created by them, including a depiction of Bermuda’s Royal Naval Dockyard by Queen Victoria’s son, Prince Alfred.”
Screening at 5.15 p.m., The Grand Seduction is a crowd-pleasing comedy about the small fishing village of Tickle Head [population: 120], which must procure a local doctor to secure a lucrative business contract.

When unlikely candidate and big city doctor Paul Lewis [Taylor Kitsch] lands in their lap for a trial residence, the townsfolk rally together to convince the fast-living, jazz-loving, cricket-playing doctor that their sleepy harbour is a paradise tailor-made just for him. So begins ‘the grand seduction’. Irish actor Brendan Gleeson also stars in the film.
Tickets are on sale now at the Oceans Gift Shop, BUEI, or by calling 294-0204. The ‘Weekend Film Series’, sponsored by Gosling’s, is a joint production of Bermuda Documentary Film Festival director Duncan Hall and the BUEI.
