Rumble In Paradise: Sound Clash In Bermuda

June 18, 2014

On June 28, 2014 Bermuda will experience a unique event that will feature DJs battling for supremacy in a sound clash, with the event dubbed Rumble in Paradise.

A spokesperson said, “Rumble in Paradise will be pitting Bermuda’s own YGS [Young Gunz Sound] against two well-seasoned giants in the clash arena. YGS has been in the DJ business well over 10 years and they are one of the most requested sounds in Bermuda.

“They have played with some of the biggest names in the entertainment world, but this will be their first clash against international competition. David “Scoobay” Viera is excited yet nervous about this clash; he and his crew have spent countless hours preparing for this historic battle.

“Love People Sound [LP Sound] is one of the masters in the sound clash arena. Gary Famous and Killa Khan have more than 20 years experience between them in sound clashing. Gary Famous said he realizes he is up against YGS with home advantage, but that dosent bother him.”

The winner of Brooklyn Faceoff in April 2012, the Killa Cup in October 2012, Action Pack in April 2013, and the Killa Cup again in October 2013 issued a warning to his opponents, saying, “We not taking any prisoners come June 28; we will accept nothing less than a total victory.”

RUMBLE IN PARADISE 2014

Jamie Hawk from Young Hawk Sound is just as confident, saying, “Young Hawk is coming to Bermuda to create history. We are a veteran clash sound and no sound beats us easily.”

“Young Hawk have been to World Clash and UK Clash, two of the biggest sound clashes in the world, as well as winning the last Bronx Clash.

“The format of the clash will be simple. Each sound will play an introductory 20 minute round. This is followed by another 20 minute elimination round. One sound is eliminated by the crowd after this 20 minute round. The last two sounds will face off in a best of 10 dubplate battle. The champion will be crowned by the crowd at the end of this battle and the winner will receive the Carlsberge Cup as well as $1,000 in prize money.

“We are urging everyone to come out and support this very special event. We scouted and made sure we had some of the best in this business for this clash. The early warm-up will be done by Black Star Sound, keeping the patrons dancing to the best in old and new school reggae.

“The venue will be at Pier 6, Lower Level, wth the gates opening at 10.00pm. Tickets are $30 and are available at Kit N Caboodle, Fish n Tings, The Cave in St. George’s, and from the YGS and Wild Apache Promotion team. Patrons can also call 705-2109 or 336-8153 for delivery. Ladies get in for $20 before midnight, while there is also special $20 ticket for college students; all college students must have valid college ID at the gate or will have to pay the $10 difference.”
