Video: Nahki Wells Scores Against Charlton FC
[Updated] Nahki Wells and his Huddersfield Town teammates took on Charlton Athletic FC [Aug 23], with Wells scoring in the 50th minute as his team recorded a 1-1 draw.
Neither team found the back of the net in the first half, which also ended with Hudderafield’s Murray Wallace been shown the red card.
The second half kicked off with Huddersfield down to ten men, and in the 50th minute Wells found the back of the net to put his team up 1-0. The 24 year old Bermudian was taken off approximately 15 minutes later, and replaced by James Vaughn.
The end of 90 minutes of play saw Huddersfield holding a 1-0 lead, and five minutes of injury time was added, which saw Charleton’s Igor Vetokele grab the equalizer with only 2 minutes of play left.
Update: Speaking after the match, in remarks posted on the Club’s website, Wells said: “It feels like we have won the game even though we haven’t, there are a lot of positives that we can take from the match.
“We gave the fans something to get excited about because lately they have expected a lot and we haven’t delivered. We played excellently and had a penalty decision gone our way towards the end of the game we would have won, but as it was Charlton went up the other end and scored.
“To get a point from today’s match, having played for 45 minutes with ten men, is a positive.”

Why would they take Nahki Wells off…? dah
Highly disappointed that Charlton scored in the last minutes.
Congrats to Nahki, keep banging them in!
@Raymond Ray – they probably took him off for a couple of reasons, none of which were due to any weakness on Nahki’s part. They have a Cup game against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday and probably want him fresh for that game. Additionally, playing with 10 men would mean that you would have to keep one striker up front and everyone else defending the lead and with a fresh striker up front, it could help.
Thanks. Now that just maybe a possibility.
