The competitors have been faced with a strong current, steep waves and a variety of wind from a steady moderate breeze on day one followed by two days of light and shifty breezes, which saw lengthy postponements ashore.

Fleet racing is now at the halfway mark. Following today the competitors will be split into three fleets, gold, silver and bronze allowing only those in the gold fleet to vie for the title. Team Bermuda will see Tayte in Gold, Mikey in Silver and Adriana, George and Joe in Bronze.

Coach Jenkins said, “The conditions have suited the lighter sailors as it is easier for them to get through the choppy waves in the light air. I am pleased with the spirit and efforts of the team thus far”.

Tomorrow brings the competitive Team Race Championship followed by a lay day and then the final days of racing in their respective fleets.

The leaderboard has Mara Turin of Slovenia in first overall and first female.

Overall results for Team Bermuda

  • Tayte Stefaniuk 33
  • Mikey Wollmann 112
  • Adriana Penruddocke 150
  • George Buckley 187

Well done to all our young sailors. Tayte keep striving for the top of the Gold fleet. Mickey get to the head of the Silver fleet. George, Adriana and Joe don’t be discouraged by the light winds and keep ploughing through the waves.
