Football: Premier, First & Corona Results
Footballers in the Premier Division, First Division and Corona League all saw action this past weekend.
First Division
Wolves 1 St. David’s 0
After a scoreless First Half at the Devonshire Rec., this match looked as if a goal would not come, but in the 89th minute Kyle Brangman got on the end of a cross and beat the St. David’s goalkeeper to earn Wolves a 1 – 0 win.
Premier Division
Devonshire Cougars 2 St. George’s Colts 1
At the Devonshire Rec., the Devonshire Cougars and the St. George’s Colts battled at time through driving rain, Lovintz Tota gave the home team in the 43rd minute when a corner was not cleared by the St. George’s Colts defense and Tota was able to head the home from close range.
Five minutes into the second half the St. George’s Colts were level, Jarizinho Bassett was on hand to make the score 1 – 1. In the 60th minute Tota put the Devonshire Cougars back in front, once again using his head.
Neither team was able to beat the opposing goalkeeper with the Devonshire Cougars coming away with a 2 – 1 win.
Flanagan’s Onion’s 0 Somerset Trojans 0 – Match Called Off at Half Time
At the BAA Field, the Premier Division match between Flanagan’s Onion’s and the Somerset Trojans was halted at the half-time interval, when referee Anthony Francis deemed the surface too dangerous to continue.
Corona League
BAA 1 Lobster Pot 3
Lock N Key 2 Tuff Dogs 4
At the BAA Field, the defending champions Tuff Dogs, looked to make a statement early in the season winning this encounter against Lock N Key 4 – 2.
Aaron Browne and Ricardo Ponte both scored twice to lead the Tuff Dogs to victory, while Chris Anderson and Blenn Bean scored for Lock N Key.
West End United 3 Vasco 0
West End United got goals from Trevor Corday, Chris DeSilva and Matthew Carvelho in their 3 – 0 win over Vasco
Robin Hood 4 North Village Rams 3
Jamie Smith scored twice to lead Tobin Hood to a 4 – 3 victory over the North Village Rams, Grant McKellar and Rohann Simons added a goal each, while Aljame Zuill scored twice for the North Village Rams and Ralph Bean added the other.
