‘Just For Laughs’ Show Returns To Bermuda
The 9th edition of Bermuda’s annual funny event ‘Just For Laughs Bermuda’ will be held from January 7 to January 10, 2015 at Fairmont Southampton’s Mid-Ocean Amphitheatre.
A spokesperson said, “Just For Laughs Bermuda returns in January 2015 with a stellar line-up of talent. The 9th edition of Bermuda’s annual funny event will be hosted by perennial favourite Alonzo Bodden and feature special guest and Saturday Night Live alum Jim Breuer, along with Canadian sweetheart Debra DiGiovanni and Canadian funnyman Graham Chittenden from January 7 to January 10, 2015.

“Alonzo Bodden is a man who needs no introduction in Bermuda. An international headliner, Alonzo has performed worldwide including Just For Laughs in Montreal; Just For Laughs Sydney; Ireland’s Kilkenny Comedy fest; Brighton Beach in the UK; and he’s entertained the troops everywhere from Iraq to Greenland.
“Introduced to America on NBCʼs Last Comic Standing, Alonzo was runner up on Season 2 and came back to win it all on Last Comic Standing Season 3, “The Best of the Best.
“Since then he’s done a one-hour comedy special, Who’s Paying Attention? that premiered on Showtime, was a regular on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and a favorite guest on Adam Corollaʼs radio show and podcast.
“While his movie career has consisted mainly of playing security guards, heʼs protected the best: Steve Martin and Queen Latifah in Bringing Down The House and Leslie Nielsen in Scary Movie 4.
“Heʼs hosted 101 Cars You Must Drive on Speed Channel and Americaʼs Worst Driver on The Travel Channel, along with Inside the Vault for ITV.
“This year, in addition to being our host on the Fairmont shows, he will also return to share the stage with Jim Breuer for Double Bill at City Hall, where both comedians will perform extended sets. Different material will be presented for the shows at the Fairmont Southampton.
“Jim Breuer is a Saturday Night Live alum who is perhaps best known for his memorable characters such as “Goat Boy” and for his starring role opposite Dave Chappelle in the cult classic film Half Baked.
“Jim Breuer has been named one of Comedy Central’s “100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time”, and can be heard on his weekly Sirius/XM Radio show Fridays With Breuer featuring guests such as Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Cosby, Chris Rock, Denis Leary and Jeff Foxworthy.
“Breuer has also appeared in popular films Zookeeper, Dick, and Titan A.E.. On the small screen, he hosted MTV’s popular Beach House and VH1’s Web Junk 20. His other television appearances include Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and The Marriage Ref.
“Breuer is also a frequent guest on the Howard Stern show. In 2011, his acclaimed autobiography, I’m Not High:(But I’ve Got a Lot of Crazy Stories about Life as a Goat Boy, a Dad, and a Spiritual Warrior), was released. Most recently, Breuer taped his latest one hour comedy special All Grown Up at the Gramercy Theatre in New York, New York.
Debra DiGiovanni, a Toronto native and recent Los Angeles transplant, is currently a featured panelist on The Comedy Network’s Match Game and a frequent guest on CBC’s wildly popular radio program The Debaters, the latter of which earned her a Canadian Comedy Award nomination for writing on the show.
“This Just For Laughs veteran was a regular contributor to MuchMusic’s Video On Trial series, a finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, has two Comedy Now! specials, released her first American special, Single Awkward Female, on Showtime in the US last year, and recently made her acting debut in the independent comedy Unlucky. Did we mention that she is not only a Gemini Award winner, but also three-time Canadian Comedy Award winner for Best Female Comic?!
Graham Chittenden is one of Canada’s most sought after comedians and comic writers. He was nominated for a 2012 Canadian Comedy Award and has appeared in numerous comedy specials, including his own Comedy Now!, which aired on The Comedy Network, hosted MTV Showtown and has appeared on Match Game on The Comedy Network.
“He has written for CBC’s The Debaters, the Genie Awards, and Just For Laughs, as well as working as a creative consultant for Mr. D.Jonathan Young and Nadanja, two of Bermuda’s favourite comedians, will be taking turns opening the shows at this year’s Just For Laughs Event.
“Jonathan Young, who will be making his 6th Just For Laughs Bermuda appearance, will be the opening act for the Double Bill show starring Alonzo Bodden and Jim Breuer.
“He also will be opening the gala shows on January 8 at 8:30 PM and January 9 & January 10 at 7:00 PM. Nadanja will be making his 4th appearance and will be opening the gala shows on January 9 & January 10 at 10:00 PM.”
