Photos: Hamilton Christmas Tree Lighting Event
The 20th Annual Tree of Lights ‘Lighting the Tree’ Ceremony was held this evening [Nov 28] at the City Hall in Hamilton with scores of spectators ranging from young to old turning out for the event.
Leading off the night were Hamilton Deputy Mayor Donal Smith and Town Crier Ed Christopher while spectators were treated to performances by the Menuhin Foundation, songstress Olivia Hamilton, the Bermuda High School for Girls Choir, Saltus School Choir, the Bermuda Regiment Band, the Bermuda Island Pipe Band and more.
Shortly after the tree was lit by student Steven Manderson, there was a puff of smoke on the roof of City Hall signalling the arrival of Santa Claus. Santa made his way down to the awaiting crowd, interacting with the excited children and adults.

I was wondering when the tree would be lit but never saw any notice as to when. Finally when there is something to do on a Friday night besides having a drink, I know nothing of it. Oh well, I guess I can go to the Santa Clause parade….that is this Sunday, right??
For those of us that weren’t there, thank you Bernews for sharing. Beautiful tree and great to see such a good turnout.
I wonder if they’re charging Santa for his visit this year?
Don’t clamp my sleigh!!
