Man Jailed For Stealing $502 From His Father
A 37-year-old man appeared in Magistrates Court this morning [Dec 29] where he was sentenced to 60 days in jail for stealing money from his father on Boxing Day.
Southampton resident Ernest Damon Smith, 37, was sent to jail for 60 days for stealing $502 from his father on 26th December 2014.
Prosecutor Susan Mulligan told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo that Mr Smith had asked his father for money and later found the $502 after searching through his father’s clothes in his father’s closet. The Prosecutor also told the Magistrate that Smith had successfully completed a Drug Treatment Court process, and had confessed to police that he had taken the money.
Magistrate Tokunbo told Smith that after he came out of prison, he would have to deal with his father.
