Team Bermuda Upbeat Over Performance
The Bermuda National Bowling team recently took part in the World Bowling Championships in Abu Dhabi.
Matched against over 270 of the world’s best tenpin bowlers, the top three Bermuda finishers after 24 games were Damien Matthews who placed 119th with a total pinfall of 4807 averaging 200.29, Jermaine DeSilva followed closely in 124th position with a total pinfall of 4788 averaging 199.50 and David Maycock finishing at 183rd, with a total pinfall of 4597 averaging 191.54.

In the three man team event, Maycock was the high man for Bermuda after six games averaging 197.5 followed by DeSilva with an average of 196.00 and Binns at 180.50.
In the five man team event, Bermuda finished 25th out of 44 teams. Matthews fell of the pace in the first game, however DeSilva, who was high man for the team event filled in the gap, and went on to post an average of 210.00 after six games.
Matthews rebounded quickly coming second with a 202.83 average, followed by Binns with an average of 199.50, Richardson with a 196.50 [and highest game for Bermuda of 265] and Maycock with a 188.33.

Korea dominated the team event winning its first gold medal beating out Team USA by 9 pins. Team USA won the silver medal, while Australia and Sweden sharing the Bronze medal.
