Graduate Programme To Be Launched By CD&P
A first of its kind graduate trainee programme introducing Bermudians to corporate administration is to be launched by the corporate services company of Conyers Dill & Pearman.
Codan Services Limited, which is affiliated with Conyers Dill & Pearman, is launching the scheme this year. It is available to Bermudians who have recently completed or are on track to complete a degree from an accredited university.
Justine Blakesley, Head of Codan Services, said: “It is a tailor-made three year graduate programme providing trainees with structured training and guidance to develop their day-to-day practical skills as a corporate administrator while being supported through the professional qualifying programme with the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators [ICSA].
“It is also the fundamental grounding and route into the Conyers Management Training programme, which is part of our talent management initiative
“The role of a corporate administrator is a multi-faceted one and one which plays a key role in supporting Conyers itself as well as the Firm’s clients.”
Codan, which is headquartered in Bermuda, provides services ranging from maintaining statutory records, giving advice on changes in Bermuda law that affect the statutory obligations of a company, working with and implementing the directors’ and shareholders’ decisions.
It’s a client led environment where service excellence is paramount. The team works to keep its clients companies and partnerships in compliance with local regulatory requirements, dealing with applications and regulatory filings to the Bermuda authorities and liaising with company principals, managers, lawyers, accountants and auditors on day-to-day corporate matters.
Codan has a varied portfolio of international and local companies, covering a wide spectrum of commercial activities including insurance, funds, investment, shipping, asset management, pharmaceuticals and telecommunications.
For the first 12 to 18 months trainees will rotate between different projects and teams. After that the trainees will start their first position under the guidance of a corporate manager. Trainees will be on a full-time salary throughout the programme.
During the full three years of the programme trainees will participate in training aimed at further personal and professional development. Upon successful completion of the programme trainees will be considered for permanent career opportunities at Codan, to include opportunities in the Conyers Management Training Programme.
Mrs Blakesley added: “This is a completely new programme that we are introducing and our hope is that we can contribute to the training of Bermudians who are keen to pursue a professional career, supported by achieving the internationally recognised professional qualifications through the ICSA.
“Furthermore, this opens the door to a Management career path with Conyers, and the opportunity to be one of our corporate leaders of the future.”
Codan will be holding an open house in the Spring and Summer for students who want to hear more about the programme. Those interested should contact Conyers Human Resources at 441.295.1422 or via email at careers@conyersdill.com. For more details on the course visit www.conyersdill.com
