BFA Appoints Nathan Atcheson For Marketing
The Bermuda Football Association [BFA] announced that Nathan Atcheson [pictured] has been appointed to the position of Director of Marketing & Communications.
“Mr. Atcheson will have specific responsibilities related to marketing, fundraising, website management, social media management, and media relations,” the BFA said.
“We are pleased to have Mr. Atcheson join us in this position as he has a wonderful background of experience that will be of significant importance to the BFA.
“Nathan attended Acadia University, securing a B.A. in English. He has worked for numerous local marketing agencies, as well as being hired to spearhead individual projects for many local companies.”
Mr. Atcheson said, “Football is a passion that I share with many Bermudians. To be able to use my skills and experience for the good of the game is an honour.
“I look forward to rising to the challenge, to working with the BFA team and local community, and to helping further football in Bermuda.”
“The BFA plays a vital role in our community as a national sport and we have hundreds of success stories to share. Likewise, we value our relationship with the Bermuda Government, the corporate community, the family of football, and the general public. We look forward to sharing our experiences and getting more individuals and partners involved in our programmes.”
Congrats Nate
That’s it, players / coaches, down your boots and leave it to the suits to play.
The BFA have no money to pay national coaches a proper stipend – no money for proper tours for national teams, no money for coach education and yet they can find 70- 100k for a marketing guy. Shut the front door.
If Larry and Co stopped spending every football minute in FIFA and CONCACAF meetings or as Match Comm or trying to establish beach football, they might be able to do this particular job without paying money that you don’t have for it.
Football coaches and players stop being so lazy and take your sport back from the suits…
The position is recommended and funded by FIFA and CONCACAF on formal application by the BFA ‘suits’ for the specific purpose of raising significant funds for the coaches, players, tours and programs for which you complain there is no money. Marketing is fundraising!! Bermudians sit at the table of international football committees and contribute to decision making just like representatives from all other countries. FIFA and CONCACAF recommend beach soccer for their member associations. Like Bahamas in 2017, Bermuda has the chance at some point to host a FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Tournament showcasing Bermuda to a worldwide audience. BFA thinking and acting globally for Bermuda!!
The perfect guy for the job!
Wishing him all the best in his new position, but I don’t recall the post being advertised anywhere. Few of us on the island have sports management degrees and this would be a perfect position for us.
The position was advertised earlier this year.
I must add – fultime marketign and communication for BFA??
This would seem to be a taks that you could outsource to an agency on an as needed basis for $20k to $30k annually.
The position has a main focus on fundraising in a highly competitive corporate donor environment. Most if not all of the private schools in Bermuda and some major charities including the hospital have similar personnel employed full-time for marketing/fundraising or ‘development’ raising significant funds. Outsourcing to an agency for $30k annually is most unlikely to achieve significant fundraising targets.
Happy for you mate! You are the right man for the job!!
