Disoriented Boaters Call 911, Get Back To Shore
Two visitors aboard a rental whaler recently lost their way on the open water after becoming disoriented off the west end, with a 911 call and a jet ski liaison needed to get them back to Somerset Bridge Watersports.
A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “On Thursday, April 30 at 5.02pm, a 911 call from a rental whaler with two visitors on board reported that they had become disoriented off the west end of the island and were unable to find their way back to Somerset Bridge Watersports.
“Having ascertained the route taken by the rental boat BMOC called the operators who dispatched a jet ski to liaise with their guests. The rental boat made its way to the beach at Coco Reefs Resort where the operator met and guided them back to Somerset Bridge.”
