Court: Man Ordered To Pay $1,440 Restitution
Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [Sept 30], a 32-year-old man was sentenced to community service and probation, as well as ordered to pay full restitution to the victim whose cheque he had taken.
Stevone Bailey was sentenced to twelve months probation, ordered to pay full restitution to the victim whose $1,440 cheque he had stolen and cashed, and also ordered to do 50 hours of community service.
Mr Bailey told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo that he was not employed, was on financial assistance, but was doing hustles and could pay something to the victim every other week. The Magistrate said that the $1,440 restitution was to be paid through Magistrate’s Court, who would pass the funds on to the victim.
Mr Bailey asked the Magistrate what Community Service meant. The Magistrate explained that it meant that he would have to perform 50 hours of unpaid work that benefited the community.
