Hundreds Enjoy Veterans Reggae Concert
The latest installment of the popular Veterans In Action reggae concert series took place recently at the BAA Gymnasium, with patrons treated to a slew of classic renditions from yesteryear.
The enthusiastic group of fans, approximately 800 strong, danced and sang along to reggae classics that spanned decades.
The evening began with local DJs Blackstar and Three the Hard Way [Gibbo, Blacka and Donnie] warming up the early arrivals with a variety of songs ranging from Bob Marley to Garnett Silk. As the crowd began to build, Magic took over the controls and had many patrons recalling classic hits.
Ninja Cutty was the Master of Ceremony, and the first local act to grace the stage was Rivah, who had his guitar in tow and treated all in attendance to an acoustic tribute to legendary reggae artist Dennis Emmanuel Brown.
He had the audience humming and singing classics such as “Here I Come”, “Sitting and Watching”, “Wolves and Leopards” and “Have You Ever.”
Ramon Clarke was the last local act to perform, pleasing the crowd with renditions of “Days and Times”, “Rise and Shine”, “That Thing You Have.”as well as renditions of Bob Marley’s timeless hits “Three Little Birds” and “Waiting In Vain.”
Following the local acts, Bermuda’s own Jason “Jugglin J” Ford took over the musical selection.
Leroy Gibbons then took to the stage, and gave a crowd pleasing performance, mesmerizing the fans with hit after hit including “Cupid”, “Magic Moment”, “Four Season Lover” and more.
The night culminated with the iconic Tony Curtis who performed a number of hits including “Missing You”, “My Lady in Red”, ” Can Fly”, “Nobody”, “Love Should’ve Bought You Home”, “Home Alone”, “Sweet Lady”, “Party Time”, “Faith”, “Lose Your Woman” and “You Left Me Lonely.”
The next scheduled event from Veterans In Action is the annual Bob Marley Birthday Celebration on February 6, 2016.
