Launch Of “See Saw Of Life” Poetry Book
Veteran educator, Bermuda College Fellow, and founder of the Adult Education School, E. Merle Brock Swan Williams will deliver a public launch of her new book of poetry, See Saw of Life, this Sunday, December 6, at the Bermuda College.
The author will share live readings of select poems with additional poetry from the book performed by Robert Horton and Phyllis Caisey. The launch slated to begin at 2:30pm in the Blue Room, will also include a meet and greet reception and the sale of signed copies.
“See Saw of Life, a book of poetry by E. Merle Brock Swan Williams, was published in the United States in the fall of 2015 and represents a compilation of forty-five poems that run the gamut from searing social critiques to humorous examinations of life, highly personal tributes and internationally relevant themes,” a spokesperson said.
“The author is known for her unconventional perspective which is woven throughout See Saw of Life, through the choice of topics and poetic language. Her approach was also a driving force in her work creating the successful volunteer-run education-for-all model for the school which she ran for twenty years.
“The model was recognized internationally and she has shared her expertise and insights to inspire similar regional educational centres.
“Her creativity is the foundation for not only her poetry, but also her work excavating opportunities for her charges both in Bermuda and internationally. She has placed over 4,000 people in secondary, tertiary and continuing education over the years and has been recognized by institutions in the United States for her work, including the Sojourner Truth Award.
