UMI Provides Update On Engagement With Govt.

December 17, 2015

Urban Maximum Industries Inc [UMI] has provided an update on its engagement process with the Bermuda government, saying they were able to secure a meeting.

A spokesperson said, “UMI was able to secure a meeting with the Government of Bermuda on November 25, 2015, which we would like to thank both the Premier and Minster Gibbons. All Bermuda politicians have been informed as of November 29, 2015.

“The salient points are that UMI is to pursue a vetting process as per the guidance received via the Bermuda Monetary Authority and the Bermuda Business Development Agency.

“We are seeking to have our international partners and investors attend a January 2016 meeting with the Government of Bermuda, as we wish to address the various details face to face, to discuss delivery of foreign direct investment so that we can support the Government’s stated aims regarding Bermuda’s future employment, fiscal stability and infrastructure deployments.

“We recognize that the Government of Bermuda must ensure that any engagement or relationship must be seen as an enhancement of its stellar reputation globally.

“We fully appreciate and support transparency and in considering the overall program would suggest that the delivery of a diverse pool of developments, projects, and programs would use a number of standard engagement models, such as sole source deployments, and request for proposals, all of which, based on the partnering agreements, would ensure local involvement via employment, contracting, sub-contracting, and the entire scope of support services: banking, legal, insurance, and accounting.

“To ensure clarity of our mission as per our LOI, we also highlight our interest in bundling the construction of the “Bridge and the Airport”, to form a totally new regional airport with a Bermuda airline, new road developments, with the addition of an island-wide, rapid mass transportation mono rail system as a strategic infrastructure.

“There are other aspects of our airport development plan outlined in our overview that has been sent in the LOI package.

“This ensures that the significant investment for the new Airport is logically supported by the key bridge and mass transit requirements. We have the capacity to replace the CCC / AECON, and cover the penalty fees associated with ending that relationship with the Bermuda government, so the tax payers pay nothing. We seek to provide the Government with a superior option for the program delivery.

“UMI would like to work with the Bermuda Government in developing a new sustainability paradigm for Bermuda, including:

  • 1. New transportation system with mono rail and road development and infrastructure
  • 2. New power supply with new power generations and cheaper energy cost
  • 3. A totally new regional airport with a Bermuda airline
  • 4. New global healthcare facilities
  • 5. Waste disposal and water systems
  • 6. New international sports facilities
  • 7. New farming technology – land and sea
  • 8. New jobs and careers – globalization
  • 9. Restructure tourism
  • 10. Make Bermuda more business and investor friendly
  • 11. New dock and cargo facilities
  • 12. Totally upgrade communications and telecommunication systems
  • 13. New House/home development and architecture
  • 14. Develop and redevelop international relationships, Bermuda must join the global community
  • 15. Reform our banking structure and system
  • 16. Build a new international city
  • 17. International Technology center.
  • 18. International college/university – upgrade education system using technology
  • 19. New entertainment centers
  • 20. New security services and enforcement businesses and government services

“All this is up for discussion.”

    21) Fill in the Great Sound and all the area from North Shore around the outer reef to create the land mass needed for these fanciful ideas.

The list is so ridiculous it must be April 1.

Very interesting comments… But if the entity is to be vetted to ensure they meet all of Bermuda’s regulatory requirements then what would be the harm in having the dialogue. It makes one smile and question, if the face introducing UMI to Bermuda was white would there be much dispute? After all, the Canadians didn’t seem to have a problem getting a meeting.
