Robinson’s Writing To Be Featured In Guyana

The writing of Dr Kim Dismont Robinson is set to be featured today [Jan 21] in Georgetown, Guyana at an event called “Green Antilles: A showcase of new writing from across the Caribbean,” according to a story from Bocas Lit Fest.

The story said “It will feature fiction and poetry readings by Tanya Batson-Savage [Jamaica], Felene Cayetano [Belize], Richard Georges [British Virgin Islands], Joanne Hillhouse [Antigua and Barbuda], Naijah Imoja [Barbados], Ruel Johnson [Guyana], Jane King [St. Lucia], Shivanee Ramlochan [Trinidad and Tobago], and Kim Dismont Robinson [Bermuda].

“They are all participants in a weeklong intensive, residential, fiction editing workshop, which is part of a region-wide project to develop publishing skills in the Caribbean and support Caribbean books and writers.

“Five years ago a group of Caribbean people working in varying areas of the literary arts, including publishing and education, got together to form CaribLit, in collaboration with Commonwealth Writers, the British Council and the Bocas Lit Fest in Trinidad and Tobago.

“We are delighted that we could host this CaribLit public reading and workshop in Georgetown, thanks to the generous support of our collaborators and also the Canadian charity CODE”, says Marina Salandy-Brown, Director of Trinidad and Tobago’s annual literary festival, the NGC Bocas Lit Fest.

“Facilitated by Jeremy Poynting of Peepal Tree Press [UK] and Johnny Temple of Akashic Books [USA], the five-day workshop is a first in the region. According to Salandy-Brown, the objective is to have a supply of well-trained editors from whom new writers could seek professional feedback if they are thinking of publishing themselves or of offering their work to a traditional publisher.”
