CableVision Respond To Channel 82 Situation
Following Channel 82′s public statement that Cablevision wants them to “pay to continue providing local programming,” Cablevision said they will “continue to air Channel 82 for 60 days” while they work with the company to come to an agreement.
In a post on social media, the company said, “We have upsetting news for Channel 82 supporters and fans of local media. For 7 years we have provided content to Cablevision at no cost to them, positively showcasing our community, and now they want us to pay to continue providing local programming to you.
“They do not see the value in what we provide for the community and we are making a stand! Stay tuned for more information on this situation. Please call Cablevision and request Channel 82. We want to continue to provide you with local content. Thank you for your continued support.”
In response, Logic CEO Lloyd Fray said, “We will continue to air Channel 82 for 60 days while we work with Mr Woods to come to an agreement. While we are unable to discuss the specifics of commercial contracts due to confidentiality, we would like to reiterate our support of local content.
“This is demonstrated by the five local leased channels that we carry and are provided as part of our channel line-up, the live Cup Match feed as well as the inclusion of ZBM and ZFB.
“Local content showcases the Bermudian culture, spirit and artistic expressions and it is something that we are proud to air on our channels.”

Thank you Cablevision – I hope you can both work it out quickly so we can enjoy the fine work of channel 82 and all involved. It is always encouraging when a public breakdown creates a breakthrough.
Cablevision must be owned by Bob Richards and the other oba clowns that I voted for 2012.
You’re clearlyvand idiot and should have your voting right revoked.
Actually owned by the PLP/UBP bra…
Regrettably your not being honest when you say you voted for the OBA in the last election. So that makes you a clown two short of a circle.
You amaze me supporting a PLP government that put us 2.5 BILlION in bebt. Now is that not insane. Go drink some moe coffee with Mr. Coffee and Onion Juice.
While Cablevision has extended that!!!
They will now have to to sort out there other channels.i.e channel 16,hasn’t been correct forever now.there also a bunch of other channels with weak signal.. been crappie ever since it’s been taken over by its recent owners..
Totaaky agree. By the end of this year i will be firing cablevision. Pay too much for tacky cable!
Does anyone even watch channel 82? I’m just curious.
All I ever see airing on channel 82 (as I scroll by) are reruns of Bermuda Idol.
I don’t watch it.
I sympathise with Mr. Lamone Woods Co owner and managing Partner of Channel 82 However CableVision is correct in their decision. It appears the way his business model is setup is incorrect. If he says they have been operating for 7 years and has not made a profit then something is wrong and to blame CV for charging them is ridiculous. Even PBS has to garnish support from sponsors to stay on air and it’s very clear Channel 82 hasn’t done this. Mr. Woods you need to change the way your business model is and negotiate properly with CV. Don’t air things in public or Social media as well. There are many avenues to garnish sponsorship if you haven’t done so already. I appreciate watching local events, however nothing is free.
@ Lone Wolf, I watch it often and they quite a line-up.
Raise your feet up off the floor cause the Bull….. is flowing.
Cablevision sucks, sub quality over priced content, look forward to competition, and how the top KeyTech management still have their jobs defies logic (no pun intended)
The reality about it all is the Cablevision has hundreds of channels and about 9 local channels 3 are church channels, weather channel, tourism channels fresh TV and channel 82.
Channel 82 content is fresh and also runs 24 hours a day 7 days a week all local content. In the USA all cable channels as a result of FCC regulations must provide public access television for free. that means they have to provide a space for local content to air for free. They consider it a community service for promoting so much content nationally and internationally.
ZBM only now airs news full time meaning that is the only regular local programing they show daily and in most cases weekly.
the government should make it mandatory for a company like Cablevision to provide local content for the community for free especially based on the thousands of hours of foreign content that they promote.
I am also glad to see Mr. Fray, at KeyTech make a decision that is in the people’s best interest. With a major case in front of the Regulatory Authority you would think they would want to show they have the public’s best interest at heart. I am glad Mr. Wood stood his ground and exposed the situation to the public to make them aware of the fleecing of Bermuda!
