Women’s Rugby Team To Compete In Las Vegas
Bermuda Women’s Rugby, touring as ‘Dark and Stormy,’ will once again be participating in the Las Vegas Invitational tournament, set to be held from March 3 to March 6.
The Bermuda squad competing in Las Vegas will include captain Mika Tomita, Kelli Nusum, Erica McArthur, Amanda Swan, Gemma Godfrey, Juliette Ferrari-McComb, Deneka Borden, Karly Alleyne, Jessica Cassidy, and Lauren Rothwell, with Andy Crichton coaching.
Coach Andy Crichton accepts a donation cheque from Paresh Patel and Kevin Mitchell of Homeowners Choice P&C Insurance Company of Tampa, Florida:
A spokesperson said, “This is the largest rugby tournament in the USA with a multitude of Amateur teams competing in 27 separate Divisions. At the same time teams from the top 16 professional rugby nations will compete in the USA round of the HSBC World Series.
“The Women’s Rugby 7’s program continues to develop in Bermuda and this event provides vital tournament experience with the squad having to play multiple games over each of the two days.”
“Competition will be even tougher than in previous years as the reintroduction of 7’s into the Rio Olympics has seen a growth in both the number and quality of teams competing.
“Bermuda Women’s Rugby train at Somersfield Academy from 6.00pm on Monday and Wednesday and more information can be found via our Facebook page ‘Bermuda Women’s Rugby.’”
Awesome ladies! I wonder if they have pillow fights in their tighty whiteys like us men do on our rugby tours.
