Former Cup Match Players To Be Honoured
Heritage Productions will host its 12th Annual Emancipation Celebration Awards Luncheon on Sunday, July 17 beginning at 1:00 pm at the Bella Vista Restaurant at Port Royal Golf Club. The luncheon is an occasion when former Cup Match players are awarded for their participation and contribution to the Summer Classic.
Heritage Productions organized the 1st Emancipation Awards Luncheon ceremony to commemorate Bermuda’s Emancipation while simultaneously honouring those men who have helped to promote Bermuda’s cultural heritage.
Each year former players from both Somerset Cricket Club and St Georges Cricket Club are recognized and this year, the Somerset recipients consist of Robert Hinds, Tyrone Smith, Barry DeCouto and Ricky Hill. St. George’s recipients include Robert Simons, Maxwell Curtis, David Adams and Graham Fox.
Past awardees of the Emancipation luncheon include John Stovell, Kenny Paul, the later Winton “Timmy” Edwards, Calvin “Bummy” Symonds, the late Sheridan Raynor, the late Rupert Scotland, Austin “Cheesey” Hughs, Dennis Wainwright, Eldon Raynor, Lee Raynor, Junius Durrant, Clarence Parfitt and Randolph Horton to name a few.
Special guests in attendance this year will include Mr. Alfred Maybury, President of Somerset Cricket Club and Mr. Neil Paynter, President of St. George’s Cricket Club.
