Bermudian Wins Golf Competition In Florida
12-year-old Bermudian Kenny Leseur Jr. recently put on an outstanding showing to win the Optimist Junior Championship’s long drive competition in Florida.
The Optimist International Junior Golf Championships is one of the largest and best-known junior golf tournaments in the world, and the young Bermudian won the prestigious Optimist Junior Championship’s long drive competition with a massive launch of 292 yards.
Kenny, a Warwick Academy student, was accompanied by his father and represented the Bermuda Junior Golf Association [BJGA].
Kenny’s golf coach Kim Swan, the teaching professional at Port Royal Golf Course, was ecstatic when hearing the news via his parents, saying, “Winning gives you confidence; Kenny’s hard work is showing.
“When you consider that the Optimist Junior Championship attracts the elite amateurs from all over America, Kenny’s win in the long drive competition and his creditable performance in the tournament proper are commendable.
“It is good for golf in Bermuda when our juniors get the opportunity to compete internationally; the younger the better. Kudos to the BJGA for selecting 12 year old Kenny Jr.”
Well done Kenny!!
Well done young man.
Well done Kenny….Good job.
Great job Kenny…keep up the good work!!!!!!
Congrats Kenny and Coach Kim Swan. I may be wrong but believe I saw him and another young man playing in the NFL Football Golf Tournament earlier this year alongside two NFL players. I was blown away by the skill of these two young men especially considering the fact that they were playing alongside professional athletes and surrounded by crowds of people watching on, especially on #16. I may be wrong but I am pretty sure both had come up thru the ranks and were a part of Kim Swans coaching. As a taxi driver the visits Port Royal I have witnessed what Mr. Swan is doing first hand.
Well done Kenny Jnr.
Keep up the good work it will pay off in the long run.
We are proud to see a young Bermudian doing well in golf.
Best Jnr golf family
Good job Kenny. Like John Daley used to say…Grip it and rip it.
